One of the section of German Protestants in the 16th c. who adopted the opinion of Andreas Hosemann (latinized Osiander, 1498–1552), that the Atonement of Christ was wrought by the power of His divine and not of His human nature. (Also attrib.) Also Osiˈandrist.
