Chem.|ɒkˈsæmɪk| [f. ox- 2 = oxal- + amic.] In oxamic acid: a monobasic acid, C2H3NO3 (= NH2.C2O2.OH), produced by the dehydration of acid oxalate of ammonium, and in other ways; its salts are oxamates. oxamic ether: an ether in which one or other of the hydrogen-atoms of oxamic acid is replaced by an alcohol-radical; e.g. ethylic oxamate or oxamethane, C4H7NO3 = NH2.C2O2.O.C2H5; ethyloxamic acid, C4H7NO3 = NH.C2H5.C2O2.OH.
