[App. f. ridge n.¹ 1 (cf. 2 b, quot. 1641), the testicle being supposed to remain near the animal's back, instead of descending into the scrotum.
The northern forms answering to ridgel and ridgeling (see below) are riggald and rigling: cf. also rig n.³, riggon, and riggot¹.]
