Any enzyme which catalyses the transfer of a ketol group, spec. of the glycolaldehyde group at various stages in photosynthesis.
1953E. Racker et al. in Jrnl. Amer. Chem. Soc. LXXV. 1010/2 One must assume the formation of an ‘active glycolaldehyde’ which condenses with the ‘acceptor aldehyde’ to form a ketosugar.
