1. A vascular condition of the cornea of the eye, with thickening and opacity.

2. Path. A layer of granulation tissue that forms by a thickening of the synovial membrane and tends to spread over and absorb adjacent cartilage in a joint affected by rheumatoid arthritis.

With the swelling which results the membrane at times extends in or over the cartilage, forming a pannus, and wherever this persists for any length of time.., the cartilage under the pannus is more or less absorbed. 1929R.
