释义 | diplex, a.|ˈdaɪplɛks| [An arbitrary alteration of duplex after di-2 twice (Preece).] Telegr. Characterized by the passing of two messages simultaneously in the same direction. ‘Now (1895) properly restricted to the system whereby the transmission of one message is effected by means of a change in strength of current only, irrespective of direction, and that of the other by change of direction of the currents without reference to their strength’ (W. H. Preece).
1878W. H. Preece in Post Office Official Techn. Instruct., Diplex telegraphy consists in sending two messages in the same direction at the same time. 1879G. B. Prescott Sp. Telephone 346 Two messages may be sent over a single wire in the same or in opposite directions, and when we do not care to particularize either, we simply allude to them under the more common generic name of duplex transmission, which includes both. When, however, we wish to speak of either method by itself, we use the term diplex for simultaneous transmission in the same direction, and contraplex for that in opposite directions. |
