Pertaining to or possessing the property of being readily stained black by ammoniacal silver in the presence of a reducing agent.
1928Proc. Soc. Exper. Biol. & Med. XXV. 439 The fibrillae are argyrophile, i.e., they are electively impregnated with silver. 1930Maximow & Bloom Text-bk.
