[stroke n.1 12 c.] Working mechanically by means of a succession of reciprocal movements, in and out or up and down; applied esp. to (vehicles having) internal-combustion engines in which the power cycle is completed in one upward and one downward stroke of a piston. Also as n., a two-stroke engine or vehicle.
