[Prob. f. ambulatory a. 5 + -orium, usu. after Russ. ambulatóriya. Cf. med.L. ambulatorium (see ambulatory n.).]
A place for the treatment of ambulant patients; an out-patients' department; a dispensary. Used chiefly in relation to Russia or the former Soviet Union.
