1. The art or process of making photographs of very small size.
1858T. Sutton Dict. Photogr., Micro-Photography. Under this head may be included two different processes. One..consists in copying objects on an exceedingly small scale, the photograph being intended to be viewed through a magnifier... The other..consists in producing enlarged photographs of minute objects—that is, in fixing the images obtained in the microscope. 1867Sutton & Dawson Dict. Photogr., Micro-Photography. This term is now used to designate the reduction of negatives to a very minute size, and serves to distinguish it from the process denominated ‘Photo-micrography’. 1900Westm.
