[f. Gr. δάµαλις, δαµάλη heifer + -ic. The second form is perh. short for damal-olic.]
In damalic or damolic acid, an acid (C₇H₈O) discoverd by Städeler in cows' urine. Hence ˈdamolate [-ate⁴], a salt of damolic acid. damaˈluric [uric] damaluric acid, an acid (C₈H₁₀O₂) akin to damolic, and of the same origin; its salts are damaˈlurates.
