[The names of Edmund Weil (1880–1922), Austrian physician, and Arthur Felix (1887–1956), Polish bacteriologist, who described the reaction in 1916 (Wien. klin. Wochenschr. XXIX. 33).]
Weil–Felix reaction: an agglutination reaction which takes place when serum from a patient infected with typhus is added to certain strains of bacteria of the genus Proteus, used as a diagnostic test for the disease.
