[Gr. χροιά colour], a blue hydrous sulphate of copper and potassium (1868 in Dana); also called ˈcyanochrome (1857 in Shepard Min.). ˈcyanolite Min. [see -lite], a bluish mineral consisting largely of silica (1861 in Bristow's Gloss. 102). cyaˈnopathy Path. [Gr. -παθεια, f. πάθος suffering] = cyanosis (1857 in Dunglison); so cyanoˈpathic a. cyaˈnotrichite Min. [Gr. θρίξ, τριχ-, hair], a blue fibrous sulphate of copper and aluminium (Dana 1854).
