3-Methyl-2-phenylmorpholine, C₁₁H₁₅NO, the hydrochloride of which, a white powder, has been used as an appetite suppressant and is a stimulant of the central nervous system similar to (though weaker than) amphetamine, to which it is chemically related.

I. 155 Phenmetrazine has been used clinically in Germany in the management of obesity.1959Lancet 22 Aug. 152/1 Phenmetrazine (‘Preludin’), a sympathomimetic drug discovered by Thomae and Wick, was first used in 1954 in the treatment of obesity.
