Electronics.|ˈskəʊtəʊfɔː(r)| [f. scoto-2 + -phor after phosphor n.] Any substance which darkens when bombarded with electrons, and which may therefore be used as a coating for the screens of cathode-ray tubes in order to provide the reverse of the imaging behaviour of phosphor coatings.
