The precursor of a plasmacyte. †a. (See quot.; cf. plasmocyte a.) Obs.

I. 16 The polar accumulations must, therefore, be considered as something entirely separate from the balance of the cytoplasm; they, in fact, give rise to the plasmocytes, and may, therefore, appropriately be called plasmocytoblasts, or for the sake of brevity, plasmoblasts.
b. Also plasmablast. [a. G. plasmoblast (S. Moeschlin 1940, in Helv. Med. Acta VII. 231).] An immature plasma cell. Cf. plasmacyte.

LXX. 485 Moeschlin believes that some of the youngest lymphoid reticular cells begin to assume plasma cell characters, and that beginning with this ‘plasmoblast’ there is a developmental sequence of stages leading to the mature plasma cell, and that this sequence is probably independent of the lymphocytic line. 1949Jrnl.
