(Linnæus Systema Naturæ (1735)), f. the name of Olaf Rudbeck (1660–1740), Swedish botanist + -ia1.] A perennial herb of the genus so called, belonging to the family Compositæ, native to North America, and bearing yellow or orange flowers with a prominent conical disc of dark florets in the centre of each one.
