单词 | Peclet |
释义 | Peclet|ˈpɛkleɪ| Also Péclet. [Name of J. C. E. Peclet (1793–1857), French physicist; adopted in this context by H. Gröber Die Grundgesetze der Wärmeleitung und des Wärmeüberganges (1921) ii. 168.] Peclet number: a dimensionless parameter used in calculations of heat transfer between a moving fluid and a solid body, equivalent to the product of the Reynolds number and the Prandtl number, viz. Dvcp/k, where D is a characteristic length of the body, v is the speed of the fluid past it, cp is the heat capacity of unit volume of the fluid at constant pressure, and k is its thermal conductivity.
1933W. H. McAdams Heat Transmission vii. 173 Equations of this form, expressing hD/k in terms of the Peclet number DGcp/k are used by many German writers such as Nusselt and Grober. 1956Glasstone Princ. Nucl. Reactor Engin. xi. 679 For the correlation of heat-transfer data it is now appropriate to use another dimensionless modulus, namely, the Peclet number, Pe. 1958[see Nusselt]. 1974F. M. White Viscous Fluid Flow ii. 89 In low-speed flows (V0 less than 30 percent of the speed of sound), we can usually neglect both the pressure term and the dissipation term, leaving only the Peclet number (RePr) as the single important parameter. |
