Applied attrib. to a device, or to a system employing a device, which rejects or discriminates against measurements of events which occur simultaneously or are separated by a predetermined time, used esp. in experiments with cosmic rays and in nuclear physics. Also, the indication of the occurrence of an ionizing particle in such a device.
