The name of Baron C. P. Pirquet von Cesenatico (1874–1929), Viennese pædiatrician, used attrib. and † in the possessive to designate a skin test for tuberculosis that he devised in 1907.
1908Lancet 18 Apr. 1183/1 Pirquet's reaction sometimes showed itself five hours after the inoculation but as a rule, the effect was produced in 24 hours and lasted from four to six days.1927E. R.
