One of the forms of vitamin B6 (derived from pyridoxine by oxidation of the 4-hydroxymethyl group to aldehyde), which usu. occurs in mammals as the phosphate ester and is a co-enzyme in a number of metabolic processes, notably transamination. Cf. pyridoxine.
