2. A proceeding for the revival of a suit or action abated by the death of one of the parties, or by some other circumstance. Chiefly in phr. bill of revivor (cf. reviver n.² 2).
1727–38Chambers Cycl. s.v., In this case, a bill of revivor must be brought, praying the former proceedings may stand revived.1768Blackstone Comm. III. 448 There may be also a bill of revivor, when the suit is abated by the death of any of the parties; in order to set the proceedings again in motion, without which they remain at a stand.1828Le Marchant Rep.
