The condition of having overgrowth, accompanied by thickening and curvature, of one or more nails (usu. of the toes).
1833Dunglison Dict. Med. Sci. II. 104/1 Onychogryphosis, onychogryposis.1887Boston Med. & Surg. Jrnl. CXVII. 301/1 When the whole nail is affected, its free border has a tendency to curve downwards. It may occur in various directions, according as it is disturbed in the vertical or transverse way (onychogryphosis).1901Encycl.
