释义 | ˈsin-ˌoffering [f. sin n. 6, prob. after G. sündopfer, used by Luther to render Heb. ḥattāth, f. ḥātā' to sin.] In the older Jewish religion, an offering (of an animal for sacrifice) made as an atonement for sin. Also transf. See especially Lev. iv and vi. The distinction between sin-offering and trespass-offering has been the subject of much controversy.
