The name of E. G. Izod (fl. 1903), British engineer, used attrib. with reference to a kind of impact test devised by him in which a notched specimen fixed at one end is broken by a blow from a pendulum hammer and the energy absorbed determined by the decrease in the swing of the pendulum.
