[f. trans- 5 + L. pulmo, pulmōn-em lung: cf. pulmonary.] Acting or operated through the lungs: said of the respiration in birds, in which the lungs are connected with large air-sacs, into and out of which the air passes through the lungs. transpulmonary pressure, the difference between the pressure in the lungs and that in the intrapleural cavity.
