(Linnæus) use of late L. monogamia ‘single marriage’, monogamy.] The sixth order in the nineteenth class (Syngenesia) in the Linnæan Sexual System, comprising species which bear solitary flowers (not collected in a capitulum) in which the anthers are united. Not now recognized as an order in any system.
