L. dēditīci-us, orig. an alien enemy who had surrendered unconditionally, then a freedman of the class described below; f. dēdit-, ppl. stem of dēdĕre to surrender: see -icious and -an.] A freedman who, on account of some grave offence committed during his state of slavery, was not allowed the full rights of citizenship. Also attrib. or as adj.
