A formative of the names of compounds containing three atoms of nitrogen arranged in a ring, thus {b1}N{btr1}N{bbr1}N.. , as triazobenzene, C₆H₅N{btr1}N{bbr1}N.. . It has also been used somewhat differently, as in triazoacetic acid, N₂{btr1}CH(CO₂H).N₂{bbr1}{bbr1}CH(CO₂H).N₂{btr1}CH(CO₂H) . Also attrib. as in triazo compounds, triazo derivatives, etc.
