resinophore group, a group whose presence in a molecule was considered to be responsible for resinous properties or resin formation. Also ellipt. as n.
1922Chem. Abstr. XVI. 1671 The ‘resinophore group’, formed from ureas capable of being converted into resinous substances, is the complex {b1}N{b2}C{b2}N{b1}.1935C. Ellis Chem. Synthetic Resins II. xxv. 562 An investigation of the effect of heat on several mono- and di-arylidene ketones showed that the grouping {b1}CH{b2}CHCO{b1} was responsible for resinification; that is, this group is a ‘resinophore’.1937R.
