Abel Grundzüge der Palaeobiol. der Wirbeltiere (1912) 65), f. leben life + spur trace, track, remains (cogn. w. spoor n.1).] A small track, burrow, cast, or the like left in sediment by a living organism; esp. one preserved in fossil form in sedimentary rock.
